Safeguard passive harness vs 5 point harnesses
I'm looking at convertible booster seats and there are two options re restraints - 5 point harnesses (e.g. Britax Frontier) and Safeguard Passive harness (e.g. Mountain Buggy Haven). Which is the safer option?
Tamsyn Higham
  • Hi Tamsyn, Thank you for your enquiry. The Britax Frontier Click Tight is an exceptional Harness-2-Booster Seat, which when used as harnessed booster covers from 11.3kg - 40.8kg compared to the Mountain Buggy Haven which is from 9kg to 36kg. As we are not stockists of Mountain Buggy products we would recommend contacting them direct to request information on the Safeguard passive harness. Before selecting a child restraint, it is important to take into account the child's weight, height and age, any physical, developmental and behavioural considerations, the type of restraint and vehicle. We have a wide selection available to choose from. If you follow the link http://www.babyonthemove.co.nz/store-locations/ this will take you our online store finder where you can find contact details for your nearest Baby On The Move store. Here, one of our expert Car Restraint Technicians can assist you in finding the right restraint for you and your child. We hope this has helped with your query.

Recommendation on Diono range
hi there, i have been recommended this range of carseats by many friends, i am looking at the radians, my 5 month old is currently in a capsule but is starting to not like it, i think a combination of her getting bigger, gets hot and the angle also perhaps. Keen to get her in a carseat to see if car journeys improve. She is big baby also. would just like some reassurance really that these are a good way to go, its overwhelming all the different types but as these offer extended reverse facing they seem like a good option. Any insight really appreciated. We drive a subaru outback with only one child requiring a seat so space isn't too much of an issue. also i live in palmerston north but assume delivery isn't an issue.
vicky walker
  • Hi Vicky
Yes, we find that the Diono Radian 3 RXT fits really well in the Subaru Outback. The profile of the car seat sits lower so a lot easy to get baby in and out especially when rear facing.
We have stock available and more than happy to ship to Palmerston North. We hope that helps answer your query.

My 8 week old daughter is in a Safety First Capsule. It has shoulder pads and chest clip. Due to her being small, the chest clip doesn't sit on her chest because of the shoulder pads. Is this safe or do I need to remove shoulder padding?

Nuna Sena Aire - As Bassinet
Hi Guys, We are looking at purchasing the Nuna Sena Aire portacot with the intention of using this as a bassinet for the first approx 3 months of our babies life. As once they are in their main cot we will still be able to get some use out of it in other ways unlike a traditional bassinet. Is this something that the Nuna Sena Aire is able to be used for or is it strictly a travel cot and to be only used for sleeping on occasion. Thank you :)
Grace
  • Hi Grace, Thank you for your inquiry, the Nuna Sena Travel Cot can be used as a bassinett and a travel cot, it can also be used as a play area with supervision. Recommendation for compact rear-facing car seat birth - 2 years
Hi there, We have recently moved from the UK with our nine month old and are looking for a car seat. We would like something that is rear-facing and preferably as compact as possible (but also ISOFIX compatible). Our little girl is quite small (only 7.5kgs at nearly 10 months). We have a capsule but would rather get a new seat that will be safe for a newborn when baby number two comes along (we have a car seat we purchased in the UK we will be able to use for our girl when she is two and can be forward-facing). Hope you can help!

Which car seat?
Hi there, I have a three month old who has outgrown his capsule so we need a new seat, we also have a almost three year old who is currently in a Brixton Clicktight which can be rear-facing and does from infant up..i'm thinking we put the new baby in the Brixton and get a toddler seat. Just wondering if you have any recommendations. Our toddler is on the smaller size (13kgs) We have a Jeep SUV and a ranger and switch between the cars a bit so ideally something that's not too tricky to move. Thank you!
Gina

What car seat should I buy for my 15month old
She's only little so only just maxing out of her capsule and we are looking for a car seat to go in our 2019 Toyota Hilux, this will be the only car seat in this vehicle. Price isn't an issue so we are just wondering what we can get that will fit in the ute and still give plenty of room for the passenger in the front seat. Ideally after a car seat that is a straight forward install too.
Shannon Meynell
  • Hi Shannon, thank you for your inquiry, I would suggest visiting your local store if possible to have a fitting as it not only depends on your vehicle but your child as well. Seat belt booster
Hi guys - I’m after a seat belt booster for my child for the grandparents. It’s only going to be used maybe once a month. I’m needing one that doesn’t require a top tether though if possible. I’m in Whangarei and unfortunately don’t have a store close by to try. I’m just wondering if I ordered one through you guys and it doesn’t fit if it’s able to be returned etc Can you help suggest one? Child is 5 years 18.2kgs 111.2cms tall. Preferably a full back booster
Ashley Cherrington
  • Hi Ashley, thank you for your inquiry, I would suggest the Graco Highback Booster, this is a slim seat that does not have a top teather and will fit in most to all cars. you can find it here: https://www.babyonthemove.co.nz/hire_products/hire-car-seats/Graco-Turbo-Highback-Booster?search=highba. if you follow the link http://www.babyonthemove.co.nz/store-locations/ this will take you to our online store finder. When to move a toddler car seat from rear to forward facing?
Hi there, I’m just wondering if you can please tell me when it is the right time to move my toddler’s car seat from rear facing to forward facing? I get varying advice on this. My daughter is just 2 years and 4 months old and weights between 13-13.5kg. It’s looking to me like she would probably be more comfortable forward facing now as her legs are getting a bit long. My daughter is in a Britax car seat. I would really appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks heaps!
Jade
  • HI Jade, We do recommend rear facing for as long as the seat allows or after 2 years, it does also depends on how your child fits in the seat. I would recommend visiting your local Baby ON The Move Store so they can check your fitting and a trained tech can talk you through the options in regards to forward facing. We hope this helps.
